Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments of patients to effectively determine their mental health status, history, and specific needs.
• Design customized therapeutic plans tailored to each client's unique circumstances.
• Engage in regular, therapeutic sessions with clients, incorporating evidence-based approaches and culturally responsive techniques.
• Monitor client progress, adapt treatment strategies as necessary, and provide tools and resources to empower clients in their recovery journey.
• Collaborate seamlessly with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists and social workers, ensuring holistic care for each client.
• Participate in regular team meetings to discuss cases, share insights, and enhance the service delivery model.

The licensed mental health counselors at New Beginnings Counseling Services work with a varied population, including individuals facing issues such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and eating disorders. Your client base will be diverse, representing different cultural backgrounds and life experiences, allowing for a rich interaction that emphasizes cultural competence and individualized care.

Qualifications

• A relevant Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid license as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New York.
• Thorough understanding of mental health disorders and a passion for utilizing evidence-based treatment methods.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver both individual and group therapy sessions effectively.
• Strong crisis intervention skills and the aptitude to manage stressful situations with composure.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that facilitate strong relationships with clients from various backgrounds.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for client documentation.
• Commitment to ethical practices, including confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in a diverse patient setting and understanding of cultural humility in therapy.
• History of collaboration within multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.
• Previous experience in telehealth practices is a plus.
