Job description

Position Overview

Navigator International LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the execution of construction projects for federal and commercial clients. This position will assist in managing project scope, schedule, budget, and compliance requirements while working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel.

The APM role is a developmental position intended to build the skills and experience necessary to transition into a Project Manager role within the organization. This job position will require travel for projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in all phases of the project lifecycle, including planning, execution, and closeout
  • Coordinate daily with Superintendents and field teams to track progress and address project issues
  • Assist in maintaining project schedules, deliverables, and execution plans
  • Manage and track project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and drawings
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials
  • Track long-lead items and support logistics planning
  • Assist in reviewing subcontractor scopes, performance, and invoices
  • Support project financial management including budget tracking, cost control, and forecasting
  • Assist in preparation of invoices, pay applications, and supporting documentation
  • Participate in client meetings and provide project status updates
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, UFC standards, EM-385, OSHA, and other applicable regulations
  • Support Quality Control and Safety teams in maintaining project compliance
  • Assist with project closeout activities including punch lists, as-builts, and O&M documentation


Qualifications


Required:


  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2โ€“5 years of construction experience
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, drawings, and specifications
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)


Preferred:


  • Experience supporting federal or DoD construction projects (USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, etc.)
  • Familiarity with project management software (Procore or similar platforms)
  • Working knowledge of UFC, EM-385, and federal construction requirements
  • OSHA 30 Certification


Work Environment & Requirements

  • Combination of office and field-based work environments
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required (CONUS with potential OCONUS opportunities)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to federal installations
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
