Job description

The Opportunity
We are seeking an elite Strength and Conditioning Coach to build a world-class performance foundation for our brand-new professional women's volleyball franchise in Los Angeles. As a founding member of our performance team, you will be instrumental in creating our organization's culture, establishing the standard for athlete readiness, and driving high-performance, evidence-informed training. If you are excited about the prospect of unlocking the collective potential of an emerging franchise and shaping the training culture of a women's professional team from the ground up through proactive injury prevention and comprehensive performance programming, we want you in LA.
Position Summary
The Strength and Conditioning Coach designs and delivers evidence-informed programs to improve strength, power, conditioning, movement quality, injury prevention, and volleyball readiness. The role works as an integrated member of the medical and performance team and must coordinate closely with the Athletic Trainer and physicians regarding injury history, restrictions, rehabilitation, workload, and return-to-performance progression.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop individualized and team-based strength, conditioning, movement, recovery, and performance programs for all contracted players, including periodization of pre-season, in-season and post-season plans.
  • Conduct appropriate baseline and periodic performance testing and use results to guide programming without exceeding scope of practice.
  • Coordinate daily with the Athletic Trainer regarding player availability, restrictions, rehabilitation goals, symptoms, workload tolerance, and modifications.
  • Participate in return-to-performance planning and implement physician- and athletic trainer-approved progressions from rehabilitation into unrestricted training.
  • Display a familiarity with Sports Science technology, and the ability to perform functionality and basic assessments using appropriate devices.
  • Monitor workload, wellness, fatigue, and recovery using approved methods and communicate clinically relevant concerns to the medical team.
  • Provide direct supervision for team-organized strength and conditioning sessions and maintain safe technique, appropriate progression, and emergency readiness.
  • Be present at practices and matches, according to organizational standards and MLV policies.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized training facilities and inspect equipment for hazards.
  • Provide players with education on training, recovery, sleep, hydration, nutrition and performance habits within professional scope.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, human performance, strength and conditioning, or a related field.
  • Current CSCS, SCCC, or another nationally recognized strength and conditioning credential approved by MLV.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • Minimum three years of strength and conditioning experience in organized sports, preferably at the collegiate, professional, national-team level.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience in professional volleyball, women's sport, workload monitoring, return-to-performance, and travel-based programming.
  • USA Weightlifting, NSCA, NASM, TPI, or other relevant advanced certification.
  • Knowledge and experience with Sports Science and related technology devices.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to demonstrate, coach, and supervise high-intensity training activities and lift or move training equipment.
  • Frequent early morning, evening, weekend, holiday, and travel responsibilities.
  • Work in weight rooms, courts, outdoor areas, hotels, and temporary training locations.

The Pay Range
