About the opportunity


We are seeking the services of a General Practitioner Visiting Medical Officer for Grenfell Multi-Purpose Service. The GP VMO will provide contemporary comprehensive service for optimal patient outcomes to achieve safe clinical practice.

Where you'll be working

You will be based at Grenfell Multipurpose Service, a part of the Western NSW Local Health District. For more information on living and working in our beautiful region, visit our website Western NSW Health Careers.

Grenfell Multipurpose Service (MPS) is in the Weddin Shire Council, and provides a range of services to residents in Grenfell and the surrounding villages including Greenethorpe, Caragabal, Quandialla, Bimbi.

Grenfell MPS has 7 Acute Beds for inpatient services and 34 Residential Aged Care Beds and an Emergency Department. Grenfell Community Health Centre is currently located off site and also provides services to the catchment population.

The Grenfell MPS community has an increasing number of elderly people and people living with chronic and complex conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Our facility allows us to deliver the clinical services and level of care that everyone in our community deserves.

The Welcome Experience is a free NSW Government service supporting workers (and their families) who have accepted a job with Western NSW LHD in most locations. The service helps with housing, schooling, partner work and community connections.

To apply, please address the following Selection Criteria

1.     Unconditional General and/or Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

2.     Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and/or Vocational Recognition as a General Practitioner.

3.     Minimum three (3) years post graduate clinical experience. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine an advantage.

4.     Sound knowledge of and commitment to clinical quality and patient safety, work health and safety, working within NSW Health Policy and current clinical practice guidelines.

5.     Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing the range of procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department.

6.     An understanding of patient centred care and demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team including demonstration of NSW Health CORE values in delivering safe and high quality care.
