We are seeking a skilled Process / Design Engineer with a strong foundation in Chemical Engineering and hands-on experience in industrial gas or related process industries. This role is focused on technical process design and engineering delivery rather than project management, making it ideal for individuals who enjoy deep involvement in process calculations, system design, and plant optimisation.
The successful candidate will bring ideally bring experience from industrial gases, Air Separation Units (ASU), LNG, cryogenic systems or similar process environments. Candidates with strong backgrounds in distillation systems will also be considered where cryogenic experience is limited.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed process engineering calculations including heat and material balances and process simulations.
- Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Size and specify process equipment such as compressors, heat exchangers, distillation columns, and associated systems.
- Contribute to the design and optimisation of cryogenic processes, including purification, refrigeration, compression, and distillation systems.
- Support chemical process design activities, particularly distillation and separation processes.
- Provide input into FEED and detailed engineering phases of projects.
- Support commissioning and start-up activities from a process engineering perspective.
- Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure design integrity.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a process or design engineering role within industrial gases, ASU, LNG, cryogenic, or comparable process industries.
- Strong understanding of process design fundamentals, including thermodynamics and mass transfer.
- Experience with process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or similar).
- Demonstrated capability in equipment sizing and specification.
- Familiarity with FEED and detailed engineering project phases.
- Ability to engage effectively with technical stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Preferred Experience
- Direct experience with cryogenic process systems.
- Exposure to distillation, separation technologies, or gas processing systems.
- Involvement in plant commissioning or start-up activities.
