Reports To: Local Manager

Work Schedule: M - F

Amount of Travel: Up to 50%

Positions Supervised: Crew Members

POSITION SUMMARY

The Foreman is a working member of a crew. The Foreman has the responsibility to oversee the work of crew members to ensure that work is being carried out per the plan and safety policies are followed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for supervising operations.
  • Setting up and operating highly specialized operations.
  • Comprehends reading of blueprints and schematics.
  • Must use all power tools, saws, and drills.
  • Monitoring electronic guidance and locating equipment during operations.
  • Capable of digging trenches, either by hand tools or power trencher.
  • Operate two-handed tools such as cable cutters, hammer drills, and compression tools.
  • Operate equipment, trenchers and backhoes in a safe manner.
  • Operate backhoe digger derrick.
  • Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blue prints and written instructions.
  • Responsible for ensuring all equipment is loaded for the day.
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must be at least eighteen years of age.
  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
  • Clean background check for access to restricted and/or controlled areas.
  • Valid Class A license with air brakes endorsement is required.
  • Ability to pass random drug screens and to remain drug and alcohol free.
  • Specialized skills training/certification may be required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to look beyond the standard solutions.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum one to two years’ experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks related to telecommunications/energy construction.
  • Ability to work under any type of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team and relate well to co-workers.
  • Requires the availability for call out, including some mandatory overtime.
  • May require weekend and holiday work when necessary.
  • Some travel may be required, including overnight stays and out-of-town assignments and/or training.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
  • Regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes and variety of terrains.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Constantly moving feet throughout day
  • Climb ladders of all types
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Dependable and trustworthy. Employees are expected to report to work each day and on time.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills
