CNC Setup Technician / Machinist — Spring Manufacturing

(Torin coiler / spring coiling experience a plus — training provided)

Minuteman Spring Company is a precision spring and wire form manufacturer based in Millbury, Massachusetts, in continuous operation since 1946. We make custom compression, extension, torsion, barrel, and conical springs, along with custom wire forms like clips, brackets, and retaining rings, for customers across aerospace and defense, medical and life sciences, automotive, industrial equipment, electronics, and energy. As a jobber spring shop, we manufacture exclusively to order, using CNC coiling and wire-forming equipment on wire diameters from .008" to .312" in materials from carbon and stainless steel to specialty alloys. The Role

We're looking for a CNC setup technician or machinist to help run and set up our precision manufacturing equipment, including our CNC spring coiling machines. You don't need prior spring-industry experience — strong CNC setup/machining fundamentals, blueprint reading, and precision measuring are the core of the job, and we'll train the right person on our specific coiling equipment. If you already have coiler or wire-forming experience, even better; that moves you straight to the front of the line.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machining/forming equipment for new and repeat jobs
• Read and interpret prints/blueprints to determine dimensional specs and tolerances
• Select and install tooling for each job
• Run trial parts, inspect first pieces against print using micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools, and adjust settings for dimensional accuracy
• Monitor running production for quality and make machine adjustments as needed
• Maintain and sharpen tooling as needed
• Document setup parameters per job so repeat runs can be recalled quickly

Requirements

• 1+ years of hands-on experience setting up and running CNC machines (any type — machining, forming, stamping, wire, or similar; spring coiling not required)
• Ability to read mechanical prints and blueprints
• Experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, gauges, calipers)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to tolerance and spec
• Reliable and safety-conscious around industrial equipment

Nice to Have (not required)

• Experience with CNC spring coiling machines, especially Torin
• Experience training or mentoring other operators/setup staff
• Familiarity with wire-forming or 4-slide equipment
