Job description

Inventory Control Specialist

Roseland, NJ (On-Site) | $27-30/hour | Monday–Friday, 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM

At Medusa Distribution, we’re building a warehouse operation where accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement matter. We don’t just move products; we solve problems, improve systems, and invest in people who want to grow.

We’re hiring an Inventory Control Specialist to own inventory accuracy on the floor and drive real operational improvements.

What You’ll Do

This is a hands-on, floor-based role so you won’t be sitting at a desk. You’ll be embedded with the inventory team, working directly in the operation while diving deep into data.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Perform daily cycle counts across a high-SKU environment

  • Analyze inventory variances and identify root causes

  • Own investigations into discrepancies from start to resolution

  • Conduct system audits across WMS and operational workflows

  • Leverage reports to identify trends, issues, and opportunities

  • Implement process improvements to prevent recurring errors

  • Partner with Receiving, Picking, and QC teams to fix breakdowns at the source

Inventory Setup & Item Maintenance:

  • Accurately create and maintain item master data in the system

  • Weigh, measure, and validate product dimensions for new SKUs

  • Ensure all item attributes (dimensions, weight, hazmat details, etc.) are correct and system-ready

  • Audit and update existing item data to maintain accuracy across systems

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who is analytical, detail-obsessed, and proactive. Someone who doesn’t just find problems but fixes them.

Requirements:

  • 1–2 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse inventory, or quality control

  • Minimum 1 year of warehouse inventory management experience required.

  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience required.

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Experience working with data reports and translating insights into action

  • Ability to own root cause analysis and follow through on solutions

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume warehouse environment

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Deposco, Lucas, or Nexus

  • Experience with fragile goods or hazmat inventory

What Success Looks Like

  • Improved inventory accuracy and control

  • Reduced recurring discrepancies through root cause fixes

  • Strong visibility into inventory issues through reporting and analysis

  • Becoming a go-to problem solver within the warehouse

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the shift

  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.

How Medusa Supports You

  • Monthly PTO: 8 hours of PTO on the 1st day of each month.

  • Benefits Paid by Medusa Distribution: LTD, STD, Basic Life Insurance & AD&D, Absence Management Program, and Employee Assistance Program

  • Health/Retirement Benefits Offered: Medical, HSA/FSA/DCFSA, Dental, Vision, Voluntary life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Hospital Indemnity, and 401K with matching

  • Employee discounts on products

  • company-sponsored meals and team lunches

Why Join Medusa?

We’re not a corporate warehouse; we care about our people and recognize performance.

  • Clear opportunity for growth and advancement

  • Leadership that invests in your development

  • A team environment where your work makes an impact

  • If you show potential, we highlight it and grow you

If you’re someone who loves digging into data, solving problems on the floor, and making operations better every day—this role is for you.

Compensation: $27.00-$30.00 Hourly
