Med College, a post-secondary technical career college focused on healthcare education, is seeking a dependable, organized, and service-oriented Bursar and Student Accounts Specialist to join our team.

This position reports directly to the Accounting Director and plays an important role in maintaining accurate student financial records, processing daily transactions, supporting accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, and providing professional assistance to students and staff.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with financial information, and able to communicate clearly and compassionately in both English and Spanish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage student accounts receivable and accounts payable activities
  • Process tuition payments, fees, refunds, deposits, payment plans, vendor invoices, reimbursements, and other daily transactions
  • Assist with preparing invoices and student account statements
  • Communicate with students regarding balances, payment arrangements, and account questions
  • Follow up on outstanding balances while maintaining a respectful and student-focused approach
  • Process cash, checks, credit card payments, ACH payments, and wire transfers
  • Review and resolve student account discrepancies
  • Process approved refunds, adjustments, fee waivers, and account corrections
  • Reconcile and balance daily financial transactions
  • Prepare bank deposits when needed
  • Post transactions accurately to QuickBooks and the general ledger
  • Support month-end and year-end reconciliation activities
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and financial reporting
  • Assist with online payment portals and merchant-processing systems
  • Coordinate with Accounting, Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrar, and other departments
  • Respond to student and staff questions by phone, email, and in person
  • Protect confidential student and financial information
  • Prepare recurring financial and student account reports as assigned
  • Perform other related accounting and student services duties as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, student accounts, or a related position
  • QuickBooks experience required
  • QuickBooks certification strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, reconciliations, spreadsheets, and financial reporting
  • Experience in a college, school, healthcare education, or nonprofit environment is preferred
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time-management abilities
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong customer-service and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Schedule

This is a full-time, onsite position consisting of eight working hours per day. Scheduling is flexible within the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with typical schedules such as:

  • 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Occasional overtime may be available with prior approval from the President.
