TITLE: Complex Executive Director of Sales and Marketing (Marriott Oak Brook and DoubleTree Oak Brook)

DEPARTMENT: Sales

REPORTS TO: General Managers & Corporate Director of Sales

JOB SUMMARY

Provide leadership and guidance to the entire Complex Sales Team to help the hotel meet or exceed revenue targets for rooms and associated banquet services. Take individual responsibility for prospecting, soliciting and managing accounts within specific market segments.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Develop knowledge of both DoubleTree and Marriott sales systems effectively gather reporting and manage the sales and event process.

· Successfully meet and exceed annual budgeted room nights and revenue targets.

· Analyze and evaluate the total value of each business opportunity, negotiating terms to maximize revenue while ensuring exceptional customer service.

· Leverage the marketing plan to identify and cultivate new business opportunities.

· Ensure accurate revenue forecasting by utilizing the most current information available.

· Recruit, lead, manage, train and mentor the sales team.

· Support the Sales, Catering and Convention Services teams in gathering essential customer information and closing deals as needed.

· Develop and implement innovative sales strategies to attract new clients and retain existing ones.

· Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings and customer preferences.

· Prepare and present regular reports on sales performance, revenue forecasts and market analysis to senior management.

· Collaborate with marketing to create promotional materials and campaigns that effectively target potential clients.

· Organize and lead sales presentations, site visits and networking events to showcase hotel facilities and services.

· Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and partners to foster loyalty and repeat business.

· Monitor and analyze sales team performance, providing feedback and guidance to ensure goals are met.

· Participate in developing and executing hotel-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing guest satisfaction and overall revenue.

· Assist in managing budgets for marketing and sales activities, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

· Address and resolve any client concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive outcome.

· Stay updated on changes in the hotel industry and continuously seek opportunities for improvement and growth.

Requirements:

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to the essential functions, this role may involve a combination of supportive tasks, with the time dedicated to each determined by the manager based on the hotel’s specific needs:

· Represent the hotel professionally at community and industry events and organizations.

· Collaborate effectively as a team member with other key executives.

· Provide constructive feedback across departments and to the sales and marketing teams.

· Act as a leader and role model for all staff members.

· Communicate the hotel and sales needs to both general managers and the corporate team as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Candidates should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, and be able to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation:

· Requires five or more years of Director of Sales and Marketing Experience. 

· Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

· Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process. 

· Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal. 

· Must possess basic computational abilities. 

· Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Delphi/CI knowledge is a plus.

· Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.

· Extensive knowledge of sales skills.

· Ability to fairly assess/evaluate employee performance.

· Extensive knowledge of revenue management.

· Ability to recruit, supervise, train and motivate multiple levels of managers.

· Knowledge of hotels and competitive market.

· Ability to analyze data and establish appropriate action plans.


AVAILABILITY

This organization operates 24/7. Typically, this role requires work Monday through Friday, with hours varying according to business needs. Occasionally, you may be required to adjust your schedule to include weekends or change your work hours based on business demands. Please note that the number of hours you work will be determined by business needs.


In accordance with Illinois law, the anticipated pay range for this position is:

$115 – $120 per year

The final offer will be based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, and market conditions.
