Job description

Our client, a respected law firm specializing in legal recoveries and creditors' rights, is seeking an Attorney to join its Virginia Beach, Virginia team. This is a hybrid position, with attorneys working three days per week in the office and two days remotely.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents.
  • Negotiate settlements and work toward favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Primarily review and sign legal pleadings and court filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and court requirements.
  • Collaborate with paralegals, legal staff, clients, opposing counsel, and the courts to efficiently move cases forward.
  • Maintain organized case files while meeting court deadlines and firm procedures.
  • For attorneys interested in expanding their courtroom experience, opportunities for hearings and court appearances may be available as the role evolves.

Qualifications

  • Active license to practice law in Virginia and in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
  • Experience with civil litigation; creditors' rights or collections experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple active matters.
  • Professional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning legal technology platforms.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.


Preferred Experience

  • Background in civil litigation, commercial litigation, creditors' rights, debt recovery, or financial services.
  • Courtroom experience, including hearings, motions, and settlement negotiations.
  • Success managing a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced legal environment.
