Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Metal Fabricator who can do much more than simply weld.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to read shop drawings, interpret blueprints, lay out complex geometry, and turn 2D drawings into finished 3D metalwork.

This position includes both shop fabrication in Springfield, TN and field fabrication and installation within approximately 30 miles of Nashville, TN. There is no overnight travel or out-of-area work.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate custom metalwork from shop drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
• Translate 2D designs into accurate physical metal components and finished projects.
• Lay out complex geometry for handrails, frames, jigs, and other fabricated structures.
• Measure accurately to 1/16 inch.
• Perform TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminum.
• Perform MIG welding on steel.
• Perform laser welding.
• Cut, fit, weld, grind, and finish fabricated components.
• Perform field fabrication and installation as needed.
• Produce high-quality finished work with a strong emphasis on appearance and craftsmanship.
• Solve fabrication challenges and unexpected problems independently.
• Work effectively as part of a small team and contribute wherever needed.
• Follow all required safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Required Qualifications

• Strong metal fabrication skills beyond welding alone.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
• Ability to lay out and fabricate complex geometry.
• Proficiency with:
• • TIG welding stainless steel and aluminum
  • MIG welding steel
  • Laser welding
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16 inch.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Commitment to high-quality workmanship and finished appearance.
• Ability to work both in the shop and in the field.
• Willingness to contribute as a team member and take ownership of assigned work.

Preferred / Bonus Skills

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

• Polishing stainless steel to #4 or mirror finish
• Brazing brass and working with brass
• CNC press brake operation
• Painting or powder coating
• CAD design using Fusion 360 or SolidWorks
• Field construction experience

Welding Test

Candidates selected for an interview should bring a welding hood, work boots, and anything else needed to complete a welding test.

The interview test will include laying out, cutting, fitting, welding, and grinding a small section of handrail made from 1-inch round steel tube.
