Job description

McSwain Carpets & Floors

Shipping and Receiving Coordinator

Job Description

The position will cover but not be limited to: receiving and unloading delivery trucks, pulling orders, inventory, loss prevention, general warehouse housekeeping, and assisting installers with the loading/unloading of materials, receiving of material into NetSuite, printing tags and allocating stock positions to products received. This position will be a full time position.

Receiving and unloading delivery trucks

McSwain Carpets and Floors receives between 4 to 10 delivery trucks at our dock door.  Each item is to be checked in and material verified for size, color, and quantity.  Additionally, each item is to be visually inspected for damage from shipping.  Material will be staged once it is unloaded in the appropriate area.  Each bill of lading or packing list will be double checked against the shipment received and then staged for receiving into Comp-u-floor after the morning deliveries and loading of installers.

Inventory

A monthly inventory is conducted of all materials in the supply room.  The coordinator will be responsible in assisting with the inventory.  Inventory is conducted during the last 2 days of the month.  Items with expiration dates should be watched closely and the oldest ones rotated to the front of the bin.  If inventory has expired before it is used then it should be set aside and every quarter the expired inventory list will be given to Purchasing Manager to see if any credit or swap can be arranged.

Loss Prevention

The primary function of the supply room is to prevent loss.  Since its inception, the loss of sundry items stored in this area has decreased dramatically.  Factors that have contributed to decrease in loss include:  Keeping the doors locked at all times, pulling only the specified amount of a product for an order, and not allowing anyone to take materials without the proper paperwork or pick ticket.  Another contributing factor has been the transfer of materials against the department in which it is for.  Only allowing materials to exit the supply room with the correct paperwork is vital to the success of the Supply Room

General Warehouse Housekeeping

The coordinator will be responsible for keeping the supply room neat and clean.  The floors are expected to be kept in a broom clean state, with the floor scrubber being run on Wednesday and Friday.  Shelves are to be kept orderly and free of trash such as wrappers and pop cans.  Garbage cans in the area are to be emptied on a daily basis or as needed.  Expanded housekeeping duties include but are not limited to:  installers loading dock and exterior ramp, material staging area, and areas around dumpsters/compactors.

Forklift Operation

This position will require the use of a forklift.  McSwain Carpets will provide Industrial Fork Lift training if the applicant does not already have the certification.

Additional Responsibilities as Requested

From time to time the coordinator will be ask to assist in other areas of the warehouse as well as to assist in deliveries to job sites and company stores.  Additionally, the coordinator may be ask to perform other tasks as requested by management.
