Schedule: Weekdays after school hours with flexible times
Pay Rate: $21.00

The Life Skills Trainer assists the individual's participation in normative home and community-based activities. The Life Skills Trainer works closely with the family in implementing chosen goals and reports directly to the DESE Family Navigator.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in a related field, such as education, psychology, etc., and at least two years of relevant experience in working on skills development with individuals with developmental disabilities
OR
  • If a Bachelor degree is in an unrelated field, staff must have a minimum of three years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
OR
  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate and at least five years of relevant experience in working on skills development with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • A Safe driving record, current driver's license, personal vehicle, and current motor vehicle liability insurance are required if providing transportation. *Required
Job Responsibilities:
  • Works with individuals on set goals and objectives under the DESE program
  • Completes established documentation for reporting on goals after each shift with the individual and follows protocol for submitting this documentation
  • Supports individuals in achieving and maintaining personal well-being and safety
  • Provides transportation as required
  • Maintains open and timely communication with both family and supervisor
  • Provides reliable and appropriate service to individuals and families
  • Maintains required certifications (CPR/AED, First Aid, Services/Supports/ NCI, etc.)
  • Adheres to policies/procedures
  • All other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor or the Director
