Job description

About Our Company

We are a life-sciences software company, founded in 2000, that builds and supports chemical inventory, laboratory safety, and R&D-workflow applications for global pharmaceutical and biotech customers. Our flagship platforms and companion products work together to give bench scientists and lab operations teams fast, compliant access to chemical inventory. Adjacent products that manage synthesis outsourcing workflow and instrument tracking extend our footprint deeper into pharma R&D operations.

We are also in the middle of significant technology modernization, moving from Oracle, IIS, and .NET Framework toward an open-source PostgreSQL, Node.js, React, and Linux stack, while keeping legacy systems running for customers who currently depend on them.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to take direct, full-time ownership of our development team's execution — working closely with the Technical Director to turn technical priorities into a tracked, realistic delivery plan — alongside client coordination, delivery tracking across several concurrently active products, and vendor/contract administration. This role will coordinate multi-team customer engagements and drive consistent prioritization, tracking, and documentation practices across our product lines and engineering team, giving the founders and Technical Director room to focus on technical direction rather than day-to-day coordination.

This is a highly cross-functional role. You will be the connective tissue between our engineering team, our enterprise customers' business groups, IT stakeholders, and our external vendors. You will have the opportunity to build much of the process and structure for all coordination and touch points.

Ownership

Development process management

●       Partner with the Technical Director to turn technical priorities into a tracked, realistic delivery plan across our concurrently active products.

●       Own the engineering team's delivery cadence — tracking work in progress, maintaining backlog visibility, and escalating blockers — to ensure the team is executing against agreed priorities.

●       Work with the Technical Director to set realistic timelines before they are committed to customers, and surface trade-offs between scope, timeline, and technical risk.

Client delivery coordination

●       Own day-to-day coordination across our largest, most complex customer engagement — a multi-year, multi-product relationship spanning several internal teams and several concurrent workstreams (inventory management, safety/compliance reporting, synthesis-outsourcing workflow, and new product rollouts).

●       Track and drive resolution of cross-organizational blockers — for example, our current integration with a customer's enterprise procurement platform requires coordination of definitive ownership and access processes to customer systems to support our own engineering efforts.

●       Support delivery coordination for all active customer relationships and new-site/new-deployment rollouts as they arise.

Documentation governance and knowledge management

●       Drive consistent, current project documentation across our product teams.

●       Champion our documentation philosophy of a single source of truth per project, written in Markdown and version-controlled in GitHub, with integrated issue and project tracking. Own documentation-consolidation projects that bring all project documentation and associated technical details into a single, well-organized home.

Vendor & contract tracking

●       Track and support renewal cycles for key third-party software licensing relationships.

Roadmap & status reporting

●       Establish lightweight, sustainable status-reporting and roadmap-tracking practices across our concurrently active products, integrated with our GitHub Organization-based project and issue tracking.

●       Create visibility for the founders and Technical Director into what is in process, what is blocked, and what needs escalation across the project portfolio.

What We Are Looking For

Required

●       Significant professional project or program management experience — 7+ years is typical, but exceptional candidates with less experience who demonstrate strong ownership and leadership ability are encouraged to apply — ideally in B2B or enterprise software serving large customer organizations.

●       Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent client relationships and workstreams simultaneously, with strong prioritization instincts.

●       Comfort operating inside large-enterprise customer IT and procurement processes — ticketing systems, security reviews, vendor-governance requirements — and the persistence to drive resolution when a customer-side process stalls.

●       Strong documentation and process-discipline instincts, with real experience establishing and maintaining project documentation and tracking practices.

●       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable translating between technical engineering detail and business/customer-facing stakeholders.

Preferred

●       Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other scientific/regulated software industries.

●       Familiarity with chemistry or cheminformatics concepts, or genuine willingness to learn the domain — you do not necessarily need a science background, but you will be coordinating work that involves chemical structure data, regulatory chemical classifications, and lab safety compliance.

●       Experience tracking software vendor and licensing contracts and renewal cycles.

●       Comfort working within a Markdown-based, Git-versioned documentation and knowledge-management system — familiarity with tools in this space is a plus, but a genuine willingness to learn and become expert in our documentation standards is what matters most.

●       PMP or similar project management certification is a plus but not required.

A note on domain background

Deep cheminformatics or chemistry expertise is not necessarily required for this role — but the ability to bring genuine curiosity about scientific and laboratory software and quickly become comfortable with our domain's vocabulary will be most important for success and growth in this role.

Salary and Employment Type

  • We are open to full-time contracting arrangements and to also discuss/negotiate salary requirements.
