Acme specializes in a comprehensive range of plumbing solutions, including residential service and repair, commercial installations, and full-scale renovations. Known for its "Deep Roots, Modern Approach" philosophy, the company combines decades of technical expertise with a commitment to modern technology and professional service excellence.
Commercial Plumbing Estimator Role: producing takeoffs & estimates for our commercial plumbing opportunities. Working with our project managers and commercial leadership to provide accurate, well-documented estimates that leadership relies on to create bid decisions & set our project managers up to execute profitably. You would work within our estimating systems & standards, and follow the direction of commercial leadership
What you will do:
Perform complete takeoffs from plans and specs for commercial plumbing projects, including underground, above-ground, fixtures, gas, medical gas, and lab systems
Build detailed estimates including labor, material, equipment, subs, and permits
Solicit and level vendor and subcontractor quotes
Prepare accurate, well-documented estimates to support leadership's bid/no-bid decisions
Manage the bid calendar and meet deadlines
Hand off awarded projects to project managers with full scope, budget, and buyout plan
Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks as needed
Learn and apply Acme's estimating standards, assemblies, and historical job cost data
Review actual job costs against estimates and refine pricing accuracy over time
What you need:
3+ years of estimating experience in the plumbing trade on commercial projects
Strong plan and spec reading ability, including underground, above ground, fixtures, gas, medical gas, and lab systems
Proficiency with takeoff and estimating software; we estimate in FastPIPE and expect you to work in our system regardless of platforms used previously
Track record of accurate, on-time bids
Strong attention to detail and follow-through under deadline pressure
Coachable and collaborative
What is nice to have:
Prior FastEST/FastPIPE experience
Plumbing field experience or trade licensure
Vendor and subcontractor relationships in the Triangle market
Experience with Sage 300 or similar construction accounting systems
Familiarity with percentage-of-completion job cost reporting
