Company Overview:

LAB Holding is a family-owned real estate investment and development business with a distinguished record of developing and stewarding some of Orange County’s most iconic retail assets. Established more than 30 years ago, LAB Holding has remained steadfast in its commitment to cultivating urban environments that support and celebrate small businesses, local artists, and the surrounding community at large.

LAB Holding is an efficient family-owned enterprise, design-centric, and interested in individuals equally passionate in making a difference by merchandising, developing and operating unconventional retail, residential and mixed-use projects.

Position Summary:

LAB Holding is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support full-cycle accounting across multiple operating entities, including retail, hospitality, commercial real estate, and residential property portfolios.

This is a newly created role designed to support a growing accounting and operations team as the company continues to expand. This is a hands-on, operational accounting role and will report to the Senior Accountant and assist with day-to-day accounting operations, accounts payable, sales and deposit reconciliations, billing and collections, payroll, month-end close, sales tax filings, budgeting support, and administrative tasks.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment, can manage competing deadlines, and enjoys balancing core accounting responsibilities with cross-functional support for operations, property management, HR, and ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
  • Enter, code, and process accounts payable invoices; gather supporting documentation, including coordinating approvals with business unit owners and internal accounting team members.
  • Assist with vendor setup, invoice tracking, payment preparation, AP aging follow-up, and maintaining organized records for invoices, approvals, payments, and supporting documentation.
  • Perform regular bank, credit card, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Reconcile daily sales and verify all deposits are accurately recorded, including uploading and reconciling POS data from systems such as Toast and Erply.
  • Support the Senior Accountant with reconciliations, schedules, documentation requests, reporting support, and other accounting tasks as needed.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, budgeting support, forecasting support, and year-end reporting.
  • Assist with preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements, including variance analysis against budget and prior periods, and support review discussions with business owners, property managers, and leadership.
  • Process payroll, including review of hours and tips, PTO reconciliation, benefits tracking, and coordination with payroll systems.
  • File monthly sales and use tax returns and assist with other recurring compliance filings as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, documentation standards, and external filing requirements.
  • Support ad hoc projects, reporting requests, process improvements, and financial analysis as needed.
  • Assist with HR-related tasks, including onboarding coordination, employee documentation, and benefits administration.
  • Provide general administrative support, including office supplies tracking, mail management, filing, document organization, and other office needs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of general accounting, bookkeeping, or staff accounting experience required; multi-entity, small business, hospitality, retail, or property accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting principles, including AP, AR, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with commercial real estate accounting, tenant ledgers, rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, percentage rent, or property management accounting preferred.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Toast, Erply, AppFolio, Yardi, or similar accounting, POS, or property management systems preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills required, including the ability to work with reconciliations, schedules, pivot tables, lookups, and financial reports.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with business owners, property managers, vendors, tenants, employees, and internal teams.
  • Self-starter with high integrity, strong work ethic, ownership mentality, and consistent follow-through.
  • Comfortable multitasking and managing competing priorities across accounting, operations, property management, HR, and administrative functions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, research discrepancies, and make well-supported recommendations.
  • Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment

Benefits:

  • Great company culture and collaborative work environment.
  • Quarterly team events and lunches.
  • High level of responsibility with direct line to ownership.
  • Employee discounts.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off.
  • 401(k) plan.
