What You'll Do
As a Patent Attorney, you will:
- ย Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applicationsย
- ย Develop patent portfolio strategies for innovative clientsย
- ย Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and validity analysesย
- ย Counsel clients on intellectual property strategyย
- ย Work directly with inventors, engineers, executives, and in-house counselย
- ย Collaborate with experienced attorneys across multiple technical disciplinesย
- ย Gain exposure to domestic and international intellectual property mattersย
This position offers substantial responsibility, client interaction, and the opportunity to build long-term client relationships.
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who possess:
- ย J.D. from an accredited law schoolย
- ย Registration to practice before the USPTOย
- ย Admission to the New Jersey Bar (or ability to obtain admission)ย
- ย Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering disciplineย
- ย Minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm or comparable IP practiceย
- ย Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skillsย
- ย Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client mattersย
Preferred Qualifications
- ย Prior engineering or industry experienceย
- ย Patent litigation experienceย
- ย Experience managing client portfoliosย
- ย Portable business (welcome but not required)ย
