About Keel Automation

Keel Automation is an AI automation and custom software company. Our clients are owner-operated businesses in industries like marine services and manufacturing, companies running real operations on spreadsheets, sticky notes, and five subscriptions that do not talk to each other. We replace all of it with software their people will actually use, built faster than a traditional shop can move because AI is in our workflow from the first discovery call to the last line of code.

If you want hands-on experience with AI, this is a rare seat. You will watch AI-assisted development happen in real time, learn to write the kind of clear, structured requirements that AI tools depend on, and help figure out where automation genuinely solves a client's problem and where it does not. That judgment is one of the most valuable skills in the market right now, and very few entry-level roles teach it.

What we are looking for

• Ability to explain a messy operation in plain English, out loud and in writing
• - Comfort and composure in front of business owners
• - Strong note-taking, organization, and follow-through
• - Reliable attendance and communication
• - Genuine curiosity about AI and how businesses actually run
• - Located in the Tampa / Riverview area and able to travel to client sites
• - Authorized to work in the United States. Keel does not sponsor visas.

Nice to have

• Experience in operations, project coordination, customer success, or a client-facing service role
• - Familiarity with business software such as CRMs, ticketing systems, or spreadsheets used as workarounds
• - Hands-on experience with AI tools, in school, at work, or on your own

Compensation and schedule

• $16 to $22 per hour, part-time W2, depending on experience
• - Approximately 20 hours per week. A schedule is set with you before you start and can flex around class schedules. Hours are not guaranteed week to week.
• - Employment is at will. Keel provides what Florida and federal law require for a part-time W2 employee. We do not currently offer health insurance, paid time off, or retirement benefits.

You do not need a computer science degree. You need clear writing, sound judgment, and the discipline to follow through.

College students, 18 or older, are encouraged to apply. This is a paid W2 position, not an internship, but the schedule is built around school and the work is a strong fit for students in business, information technology, artificial intelligence, or related programs. If your program allows outside work to count toward credit or experience hours, we are glad to work with your school.

What you will do

• Lead discovery conversations with clients and document how their operations run today
• - Write requirements clearly enough that the build has no guesswork
• - Test features against what the client asked for and flag the gaps
• - Keep clients informed on progress, timelines, and open questions
• - Support day-to-day business operations as needs come up

We are a small, veteran-owned company founded in 2026. You will work directly with the founder and see the whole business, not one slice of it.

About the role

You will sit with our clients, learn how their work actually happens, and help turn that into software. This is client-facing work. You will be on calls with business owners who expect a professional, and you will stay with the project until what we promised is real and in their hands. You will also pitch in on the general work of a small business as it comes up.
