About the Role:

As a Welder in the construction industry, you will play a critical role in fabricating and assembling metal structures and components that are essential to building projects across the United States. Your expertise in MIG welding and ability to accurately read blueprints will ensure that all welds meet stringent quality and safety standards. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other tradespeople to interpret technical drawings and execute welding tasks that align with project specifications and timelines. The role demands precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment. Ultimately, your work will contribute directly to the structural integrity and success of diverse construction projects, from commercial buildings to infrastructure developments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in MIG welding within the construction industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols accurately.
  • Valid welding certification or equivalent training.
  • Knowledge of welding safety standards and practices.
  • Physical ability to perform welding tasks, including lifting and working in various positions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with additional welding techniques such as TIG or Stick welding.
  • Familiarity with welding inspection tools and non-destructive testing methods.
  • Completion of OSHA safety training or similar workplace safety certifications.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform MIG welding on various metal components according to project specifications and blueprints.
  • Interpret and analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to determine welding requirements.
  • Inspect welded joints for quality and compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure it is in safe working condition.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate welding activities and meet project deadlines.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Document welding activities and report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors.

Skills:

The required skills of MIG welding and blueprint reading are fundamental to your daily tasks, enabling you to create precise and durable welds that meet project specifications. Your ability to interpret blueprints ensures that you understand the exact requirements and dimensions for each welding assignment, reducing errors and rework. Preferred skills such as knowledge of additional welding techniques and safety certifications enhance your versatility and ability to handle complex welding challenges. Effective communication skills allow you to coordinate with team members and supervisors, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to project timelines. Together, these skills support your role in delivering high-quality welding work that upholds safety and structural standards on construction sites.

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed Indoor, climate-controlled shop environment. Frequent use of hand and power tools, welders and grinders. Regular standing, lifting, and material handling required. Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in all work areas.

Hourly: $25-$28 DOE

Hours: M-F, 7:30-4:00

Employment for this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screening. This role is classified as safety-sensitive, and as such, is subject to a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy. Drug screening will be conducted in accordance with federal regulations, including but not limited to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and applicable state and local laws.
