Job description

Description This Lead Reporting Accountant position will prepare the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), the EAGLE compliance and reporting, annual 1099 reporting, and all other financial reporting. Position will maintain, prepare and complete the EAGLE internal control program by obtaining information, analyzing accounts, completing spreadsheets, and updating/uploading information on the EAGLE website. Position is responsible for the liability and property insurance reporting and payment to the Department of Insurance as well as Key Risk Management. Position will use DSS and other financial systems, to complete all financial surveys, questionnaires, and reports as requested by management, agencies, OSC, OSBM, or Fiscal Research. Position will ensure all monthly, quarterly and annually State and Federal reporting are accurate and deadlines are met.

This requires research, examination, auditing, and preparing written findings following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or other applicable accounting guidelines and present findings or recommendations supported by facts. Examples of Duties Knowledge of accounting methods, procedures, and accounting practices; Ability and/or experience in decision making and problem solving: Ability and/or experience in Financial Program Monitoring and Analysis; Ability and/or experience in communicating information to others and interpersonal skills. Preferred Competencies: The position requires an individual who has well-developed communication, analytical, mathematical, computer and organizational skills and who has the ability to understand, interpret and apply specific rules and regulations governing the processing of fiscal documents, maintenance of financial records and the preparation of fiscal reports.

This position requires the ability to effectively communicate with management, Divisions' Directors and all others both orally and in writing. This position will require the individual to have the ability to work independently and have a general knowledge of all accounting theories and principles as well as general knowledge of governmental accounting methods, procedures, and financial practices. The preferred applicant will have experience using NCAS, Beacon, DSS, CMCS, and IBIS.

Preferred experience and knowledge of Eagle and CAFR and in applying governmental accounting policies and procedures, budgeting processes and General Statutes. Work is performed on a personal computer in a Windows environment using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Assess and PowerPoint) software. Management prefers Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or Business with 24 hours of accounting credits.

Experience with SAP will be beneficial. Typical Qualifications Bachelor's degree with twelve credit hours of accounting coursework; or associate's degree in accounting; or associate's degree in business or related discipline with twelve credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
