Position Summary

The School Choral Music Specialist is responsible for curating and managing the catalog of choral music for school choirs at all levels-elementary through high school. This role combines deep knowledge of educational choral repertoire with a strong understanding of teacher needs and student engagement to ensure educators can easily find high-quality, relevant materials. This music specialist is enthusiastic about choral music education, meticulous, and committed to supporting the needs of school choir directors across diverse programs and styles. This is a full-time, salaried position based on a standard 40-hour workweek. During peak seasons or special projects, additional hours may occasionally be required to meet deadlines and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Product Management

  • Curate choral music for school choirs, ensuring a balanced and diverse catalog that supports educational goals.
  • Review new choral music submissions from publishers and maintain effective communication with them throughout the year.
  • Prepare the music for promotion by applying appropriate attributes and annotation.
  • Determine Editor's Choice selections, Basic Library, and identify titles for marketing and promotion.

Data Analysis & Sales Strategy

  • Utilize product sales reports to optimize product promotions.
  • Develop and implement specific sales strategies aligned with the academic calendar and performance seasons as related to the school music market.
  • Maintain and update storefront and department pages for school choral music.
  • Collaborate with marketing and web teams to align digital content and merchandising strategies.

Community Outreach & Advocacy

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on school choral music trends across various age groups and performance settings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with choir directors, and music educators to understand their buying patterns and needs.
  • Promote Pepper's tools and services, including Editors' Choice and Basic Library.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts for the department and company.

The Value of the School Choral Product Specialist

  • Deep knowledge and experience in choral music education or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of school choral repertoire, the needs of music educators, and the language and communication style that resonates with the customer.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficiency in interpreting data and familiarity with online merchandising platforms.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to travel to conferences as needed.
  • Professionalism, and relevant experience.
