Position Overview

The Senior/Principal Power Electronics Engineer will be responsible for the architecture, design, analysis, testing, and validation of high-power converter systems. This role will drive the development of next-generation power conversion hardware from concept through commercialization.

Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field
  • 5+ years of industry experience in power electronics design and development
  • Strong understanding of high-power converter topologies and control principles
  • Experience with SiC-based power conversion systems
  • Experience designing converters in the tens of kilowatts to multi-megawatt range
  • Familiarity with medium-voltage systems and insulation requirements
  • Knowledge of thermal management, EMI/EMC, electrical safety, and reliability considerations
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory testing, debugging, and prototype validation
  • Familiarity with UL, IEC, IEEE, and grid-interconnection standards
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-power isolated and non-isolated converter systems
  • Develop advanced converter topologies including Cascaded H-Bridge, Multi-Level Converters, Dual Active Bridge (DAB), Resonant Converters, and related architectures
  • Design power stages utilizing SiC devices and advanced gate drive technologies
  • Perform system-level trade studies balancing efficiency, power density, thermal performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost
  • Develop converter protection strategies including fault detection, isolation, and system safety functions
  • Perform simulation and analysis using PLECS, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, or equivalent tools
  • Lead laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and performance validation of prototype systems
  • Collaborate with controls, magnetics, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the organization

Help commercialize one of the industry's most advanced Solid-State Transformer platforms with significant technical leadership and career growth opportunities.
