This individual can be based in one of our Oakland, CA; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; or from any of our other Geosyntec offices throughout the U.S.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team actively engaged in growing Geosyntec's Industrial Water practice. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to expand Geosyntec's presence across a broad range of industrial sectors while supporting technology advancement and project execution for complex industrial water, wastewater, treatment, reuse, and water management projects nationwide. This position is well suited for a talented, experienced individual who is interested in winning and leading innovative and challenging industrial water projects while collaborating with a dedicated team of technical and business professionals to grow the practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. You should expect to work closely with experienced professionals who will help integrate you into Geosyntec's culture as you advance to this next stage of your career.
We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and all employees contribute to challenging technical projects while leveraging their experience to expand Geosyntec's practice through business development and client management. In this role, you will help develop and execute strategies to grow our Industrial Water practice, identify and pursue opportunities across a variety of industrial markets, and serve as a project director for large and/or complex water and wastewater projects.
Some of the key responsibilities for this client-facing position include:
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans to grow Geosyntec's Industrial Water practice across diverse industrial sectors, including manufacturing, energy, mining, life sciences, technology, food and beverage, and other process industries.
  • Engage with project and operations staff to align Geosyntec's multidisciplinary capabilities with evolving client needs and market opportunities.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the firm's strategic plan and collaborate on cross-office and cross-practice initiatives that strengthen Geosyntec's Industrial Water platform.
  • Implement a personal business development plan to expand services and revenue with new and existing clients.
  • Contribute to each phase of project delivery, from concept development and technology selection to commissioning and operations and maintenance.
  • Lead the pursuit and delivery of projects involving industrial water supply, treatment, wastewater treatment, water reuse, water management, and related infrastructure.
  • Serve as Project Director for large and/or technically complex projects, ensuring client expectations are met, budgets are maintained, quality objectives are achieved, and follow-on work is secured.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering and scientific staff.
  • Review and lead the preparation of major proposals and presentations.
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent Geosyntec through active participation in professional societies, conferences, and industry organizations.
  • At times, the position may also include fieldwork, including contractor oversight and process troubleshooting.
  • Training: We offer professional development opportunities including technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Sporadic.
  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred). (required)
  • Advanced degree (same as above). (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.). (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in the consulting industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial and municipal clients with water supply, water treatment, and water re-use projects. (required)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Federal and State regulations. (required)
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients and growing a practice that sustains a group of professional junior staff. (required)
  • Excellent leadership and detail-orientation skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
  • Minimum Salary: $156,115/year / Maximum Salary: $218,560 /year (Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, CA)
