Job description

A TREC Professional Real Estate Inspector A TREC Professional Real Estate Inspector examines residential properties and generates detailed, state-compliant reports. You will be responsible for evaluating major home systems (structural, electrical, HVAC, plumbing), strictly adhering to the Texas Real Estate Commission Standards of Practice, and communicating findings professionally to home buyers, sellers, and real estate agents.

  • Licensing: Active TREC Professional Real Estate Inspector License (Apprentice/Real Estate Inspector licenses not accepted for this role)
  • Location: Dallas/Ft Worth and surrounding DFW Metroplex
  • Job Type: Full-Time / Contract


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Thorough Inspections: Evaluate the physical structure and systems of residential homes—including foundations, roofs, attics, crawl spaces, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems—in accordance with all TREC Rules and Laws.
  • Draft Compliant Reports: Utilize the current Texas Standard Inspection Report Form [REI 7-6] (or compatible reporting software) to clearly document visible deficiencies and material defects.
  • Client Communication: Walk clients and real estate agents through the property to explain findings, answer questions about the report, and clarify home maintenance best practices.
  • Safety & Compliance: Abide by all safety and professional ethics protocols; recognize and report hazardous conditions or deficiencies without performing unapproved repairs.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Licensure: Must hold a current TREC Professional Inspector License.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of active home inspection experience, complete familiarity with TREC Standard's of Practice (SOP) for conducting home inspections with a track record of completing hundreds of residential inspections. Experience in performing pool inspections, sewer camera inspections and septic inspections are considered a plus.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep, working knowledge of residential construction, building systems, and state safety regulations.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to safely navigate attics, crawl spaces, and roofs. Must comfortably be able to lift heavy equipment (ladders), bend, squat, and stand for extended periods.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record required.
  • Schedule: Must be available to work five days a week and be willing to work two(2) Saturday's per month as needed.
