Position: Driver (Material Transport & Logistics)
Location: 330 Governors Highway, South Windsor, CT 06074

Overview

Electro-Methods, a Stronvar Aerospace company, is seeking a Driver (Material Transport & Logistics) to support the safe, timely, and compliant transportation of materials, components, and finished aerospace products. This role is critical to maintaining production flow, on-time delivery (OTD), and customer satisfaction within a regulated aerospace manufacturing environment. The Driver operates as an extension of the Supply Chain and Flow Line, ensuring materials move efficiently and securely in alignment with Lean principles and customer requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Delivery
• Safely operate company vehicles (van/truck) to transport materials, parts, and documentation.
• Execute scheduled and ad hoc pickups and deliveries to suppliers, customers, and external processors.
• Ensure all deliveries meet required timelines to support production schedules and customer commitments.

Material Handling & Control
• Load and unload materials using forklift and proper handling methods to prevent damage to precision aerospace components.
• Verify part quantities, documentation, and condition prior to transport.
• Maintain chain of custody for all materials, ensuring traceability and compliance with AS9100 requirements.

Documentation & Compliance
• Complete and manage delivery paperwork, including packing slips, certifications, and transfer logs.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety policies.
• Support audit readiness through accurate and organized recordkeeping.

Coordination & Communication
• Coordinate with Dispatch, Shipping, and Receiving teams to align transportation priorities.
• Communicate delays, risks, or issues proactively.
• Support urgent customer recovery actions as needed.

Vehicle & Safety Management
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of transport vehicles.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper handling of sensitive or high-value components.


Required Qualifications & Skills

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licensing/Certifications: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required; forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain.
Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of driving or delivery experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
• Experience handling regulated or high-value goods preferred; aerospace experience strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accountability.
• Understanding of material traceability and documentation requirements.
• Ability to manage time, routes, and shifting priorities effectively.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.


Additional Information

• Familiarity with aerospace quality standards such as AS9100 is preferred.
• Ability to lift, move, and handle materials as required for shipping and transport operations.
• This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient supply chain operations and supporting customer delivery commitments.
