We are seeking skilled Marine Electronics Installers and Service Technicians to join our growing team. In this role, you will work on luxury yachts and vessels, installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining state-of-the-art marine electronics systems.

Position Summary

The marine electronics installer/service technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and service of all major marine electronics aboard vessels. The installer/service technician works directly with the customer to deliver tailored results based on each vessel’s unique needs. This role requires a detail-oriented, customer focused individual to provide the best-in-class experience and deliver superior results while following industry and best practices regarding safety standards.
Key Job Responsibilities

Installation and Service

  • Install, configure, test, and service a wide range of marine electronics and navigation systems, including:
    • Radar systems
    • GPS and chartplotters
    • Autopilot systems
    • Satellite TV and communication systems
    • Sonar and depth sounders
    • AIS systems
    • Networked vessel monitoring systems
    • Other major marine electronic equipment
  • Perform vessel surveys and assessments to determine installation requirements and recommend solutions.
  • Conduct commissioning and sea-trial testing to verify system functionality and performance.
  • Load, update, configure, and modify software and firmware for marine electronic systems.
  • Install, operate, and troubleshoot marine navigation and monitoring software.

Troubleshooting and Repair

  • Inspect, test, diagnose, and repair electrical and electronic systems using testing equipment, diagnostic tools, software, and visual inspections.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Repair or replace defective components, wiring, connectors, and equipment.
  • Reassemble, test, and verify equipment functionality following repairs.
  • Conduct final inspections and quality checks to ensure systems meet operational and customer requirements.

Electrical and Technical Work

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Fabricate, route, and install wiring harnesses, conduits, cable runs, and support structures.
  • Measure, cut, drill, and modify structures necessary to support installations while maintaining vessel aesthetics and integrity.

Customer Service and Training

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Fabricate, route, and install wiring harnesses, conduits, cable runs, and support structures.
  • Measure, cut, drill, and modify structures necessary to support installations while maintaining vessel aesthetics and integrity.
  • Interact professionally with customers, captains, crew members, and vessel representatives.
  • Explain system capabilities and recommend solutions based on customer needs.
  • Conduct customer orientations and provide hands-on training regarding the operation and maintenance of installed systems.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service that reflects High Seas Technology's commitment to excellence.

Education, Work Experience, Licenses, and Certificates

  • Years of relevant work experience required: 2 years minimum experience on yachts in one of the following fields: Marine Electrical, Electronics, Communication, Audio Visual Installation, and Troubleshooting
  • Factory training from Marine Electronics Manufacturers preferred
  • Required licenses or certificates: Driver’s License, Federal Communications Commission License, and ABYC or NMEA Certification preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Requires climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting
  • Requires the ability to use speech, vision and hearing
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity
  • Work is performed outside in the elements, on and around water
