Job Description


A K-8th art teacher educates students from kindergarten through middle school in visual arts. They design age-appropriate lessons covering basic shapes and colors for young children, and advanced techniques like perspective, sculpture, and art history for older grades.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lesson Planning: Create visual arts curricula aligned with state or national standards.


  • Instruction: Teach diverse techniques using 2D and 3D media, including drawing, painting, ceramics, and mixed media.


  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, organized, and creative learning environment.


  • Supply Management: Track inventory, order materials, and stay within the designated budget.


  • Assessment: Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.


  • Communication: Partner with parents, staff, and administration regarding student growth


Qualifications/Skills


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.


  • Licensure: Valid state teaching certification with the appropriate K-8 or visual arts endorsement.


  • Skills: Strong background in various art mediums, patience, organization, and effective communication.
