Job description

Responsible for overseeing Hapco's overall Quality Management function, ensuring products and processes consistently meet customer requirements, industry standards, and company quality objectives. Leads quality assurance programs, compliance initiatives, audits, continuous improvement efforts, and corrective actions to drive operational excellence and maintain product conformance. Partners with cross-functional teams to improve quality performance, enhance supplier quality, and support a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization. This position reports directly to the VP, Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management
• Formulate and maintain quality control objectives.
• Manage and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and product specifications.
• Maintain ISO 9001 and AISC certifications through audit preparation and execution.
• Manage third-party inspections, testing, and audits.
• Review test and measurement results to verify product quality.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
• Manage day-to-day quality assurance activities for the production facility.
• Investigate field complaints and identify root causes.
• Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Oversee corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Analyze field complaints, credits, and RMA data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Drive process improvements to reduce defects and customer complaints.
• Review, analyze, and trend Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs); identify root causes; and develop, implement, and monitor corrective action plans to prevent recurrence and drive continuous process improvement.
Supplier Quality Management
• Partner with Procurement to ensure supplier quality.
• Utilize receiving inspections, PPAP processes, and supplier surveillance visits.
• Monitor and evaluate vendor performance and compliance.
Documentation & Compliance
• Develop and maintain quality procedures and work instructions.
• Support other departments in developing procedures and instructions.
• Maintain quality records, reports, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality requirements and external standards.
• Lead facility audits and maintain audit readiness.
Welding Quality & Technical Support
• Design and manage welding procedures.
• Oversee welding qualification testing processes.
• Provide technical quality expertise across the organization.
• Review and evaluate welding-related quality requirements.
Training & Employee Support
• Provide quality assurance training to employees.
• Support departments with quality-related guidance and process implementation.
• Promote quality awareness and best practices throughout the organization.
Leadership & Team Management
• Supervise and support quality personnel.
• Delegate assignments to qualified team members.
• Lead cross-functional problem-solving activities.
• Foster teamwork to achieve company goals and resolve quality issues.
Communication & Collaboration
• Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, industry groups, and employees.
• Conduct presentations, meetings, and quality-related discussions.
• Collaborate with internal departments to achieve quality objectives.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
• Lead analytical problem-solving initiatives to successful conclusions.
• Analyze quality data and trends to support decision-making.
• Investigate complex quality issues involving multiple variables.
• Apply logical reasoning and sound judgment in problem resolution.
Travel Requirements
• Travel is required up to 30% and may include visits to other company facilities, projects, training events and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a technical, scientific, statistical, engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of directly related quality management or quality assurance experience.
• Experience with QMS, ISO standards, auditing, and manufacturing quality systems.
• Strong technical writing, training, and computer skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize competing responsibilities.
Reasoning Ability
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding when carrying out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to create, read, and accurately interpret documents.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage situations involving multiple variables and changing priorities.

Physical Demands
• Perform movements such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Work Environment
• The position is primarily office-based with regular involvement in the manufacturing plant. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) and all plant safety procedures must be followed while in production areas.
