Job description

Position: Class A CDL Driver ? Dry Bulk Transport

Reports to: Michael Green

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Department: Transportation

Job Summary              

The position is responsible for operating a Class A commercial motor vehicle to transport dry bulk products to various locations. This role involves loading, unloading, and transferring materials using pneumatic systems and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle to transport dry bulk products.

Load, unload, and transfer dry bulk materials using pneumatic systems and related equipment.

Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and other required inspections to ensure vehicle safety.

Complete and maintain logs, inspection reports, and delivery documentation accurately.

Comply with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and company policies and safety requirements.

Communicate with dispatch and customers regarding delivery status and issues.

Monitor product and vehicle conditions to ensure safe handling and compliance.

Report accidents, delays, and mechanical or safety issues promptly.

Provide professional customer service during pickups and deliveries.

Adapt to changing conditions while maintaining safe operations.

Interact professionally with coworkers, customers, and the public.

Performs other duties as assigned to support Hankins Transportation.

Proficient language and communication skills

Knowledge of DOT regulations and electronic logging devices (ELDs)

Strong attention to safety and detail

Highly effective time management skills

Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting abilities

Ability to work independently

Education and Training:

Valid Class A CDL with an acceptable driving record required

Tanker endorsement preferred or ability to obtain

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience

Experience hauling dry bulk, pneumatic, or hopper freight preferred

Pneumatic trailer operation experience preferred

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds

Ability to climb ladders and perform physical tasks

Work Environment:

Frequent driving for extended periods

Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and industrial environments
