Job description

We are seeking an experienced engineering professional to join our partner's automation solutions team, supporting major modernization and digital transformation projects within industrial process environments. In this position, you will play a key role in developing technical and commercial proposals for advanced control system upgrades, subsystem replacements, and integrated plant solutions. Working closely with engineering, sales, and project delivery teams, you will help create practical, customer-focused solutions that improve operational performance, reliability, and long-term asset value. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong technical expertise with commercial awareness and enjoys collaborating across multiple disciplines.

About the Role

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex automation initiatives that directly impact critical industrial operations. You will collaborate with experienced professionals, influence strategic projects, and contribute to innovative solutions that help customers improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals based on client specifications, operational requirements, and project objectives.
  • Partner with engineering and project teams to develop comprehensive automation and control system solutions.
  • Engage directly with customers to gather requirements, clarify project scope, and communicate proposed technical approaches.
  • Support solution development by coordinating with internal departments and subject matter experts.
  • Review incoming project awards and purchase orders to ensure alignment with proposed scope and deliverables.
  • Assist in the continuous development of proposal processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to less experienced team members where required.
  • Contribute to the successful handover of awarded projects into execution teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
  • 5-7 years of experience in industrial automation, process control, systems engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on knowledge of distributed control systems (DCS), PLC platforms, or other industrial control technologies.
  • Familiarity with process automation architectures, system integration, and plant control applications.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional travel, approximately 5%.
  • Authorisation to work in the country of employment without current or future sponsorship requirements.

Required Skills

  • Proactive problem-solver with a strong technical foundation.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively and sharing knowledge.
  • Staying informed about emerging technologies and industry trends.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with control system migration, modernization, or lifecycle upgrade projects.
  • Background within power generation, water treatment, utilities, or other process industries.
  • Knowledge of proposal preparation, cost estimation, bid management, or front-end engineering activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results and contribute positively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong interest in emerging technologies and a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Experience supporting customers throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through execution.
