Position Summary

As an Emergency Medicine Physician, you will diagnose and treat a wide variety of acute illnesses and injuries for patients presenting to the Emergency Department. You will provide timely, evidence‑based medical care, perform life‑saving interventions, and coordinate appropriate disposition while collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team.

This position requires working 12‑hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support 24/7 emergency services.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care amp; Decision Making

  • Diagnose and treat a broad range of acute diseases and injuries in the Emergency Department
  • Obtain and document comprehensive patient histories and perform focused physical examinations
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, lab studies, and imaging
  • Perform lifesaving interventions as outlined in the approved Delineation of Privileges
  • Administer and prescribe medications and treatment plans appropriate to patient condition
  • Determine appropriate patient disposition, including admission, discharge, or transfer
  • Consult in-house and specialty physicians as clinically indicated
  • Ensure full compliance with EMTALA requirements for all transferred patients

Documentation amp; Compliance

  • Accurately and efficiently document all patient encounters, including H amp;P, exam findings, MDM, diagnosis, treatment plans, prescriptions, MSE, and disposition
  • Utilize the hospital’s Meditech EMR and dictation software to complete documentation in a timely manner
  • Maintain adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and clinical best practices

Teamwork amp; Communication

  • Communicate effectively with emergency physicians, nurses, respiratory therapy, laboratory, radiology, and prehospital personnel
  • Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, patient‑centered care
  • Foster a positive, respectful team environment focused on shared goals and quality outcomes
Safety, Documentation amp; Compliance
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and legible documentation in accordance with hospital standards
  • Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and families
  • Understand and follow ASQ screening, suicide precautions, and 1:1 monitoring protocols
  • Operate and manage medical equipment safely; initiate repair requests as needed
  • Support quality initiatives and assist leadership with core measures

Qualifications

Required

  • Active, unrestricted Colorado MD or DO license in good standing
  • ATLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (Waived if ABEM certified)
