PELLETIZING MACHINE OPERATOR

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Pelletizing Machine Operator will be responsible for safe, productive control of pelletizing equipment, pellet dryer system and all associated process/environmental control systems. The operator will adjust controls and interface with other cross functional teams to meet expected production and product quality rates in a safe and environmentally sound manner.  The operator will assist in the collection of data and reporting as directed. 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Responsible to perform all duties and activities to create a safe, environmentally compliant workplace that produces high quality products in a cost-efficient manner.
• Must perform all duties and activities in a manner that is aligned with our company values:  Open to Change, Collaboration, Customer Focus, Humility, Integrity, Innovation and Excellence.
• Will monitor process visually during physical walk-through inspections of Pelletizing and associated equipment (dryers, conveyors, baghouses, bins, etc.)
• Will monitor processes (input of material and water) through visual system controls on an on-going basis and adjust control parameters for maximum product quality and efficiency.
• Monitors the efficiency of the pellet feed process: hoppers and belts operation, as well as the weigh feeders.
• Performs preventive maintenance duties as required for assigned equipment and systems to ensure long-lasting & effective performance.
• Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts and assist Maintenance when processes are down.
• Assists with Identifying the causes of unexpected malfunctions of equipment.
• Prepares reports documenting work performed (written and typed in SAP system).
• Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains areas, parts, tools, and supplies utilizing Lean/5S methods.
• Will train and support new or transferred employees.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SILLS/ABILITIES:

 

• Works well independently and with others.
• Good communication skills.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and heavy industrial environment.
• Must have willingness and ability to learn the techniques and processes of the Pelletizer, dryer, and associated equipment.
• Must have basic computer and typing skills.
• Must complete and maintain any assigned company required training and certifications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

High School diploma or equivalent. 1-2 years' experience operating machinery/process control equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

• Prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
• Must be able to visually inspect machines.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds for short durations of time.
• Ability to climb stairs/ladders on a regular basis.
• Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions.
• Must be able to work wearing appropriate safety PPE including respirators.
