We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join a growing finance and accounting team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in P&C insurance, public accounting, or a similar complex financial environment who has a strong foundation in general accounting and financial reporting.

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the preparation and analysis of financial statements, month-end and quarter-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is someone who can work independently, identify trends and variances, and provide meaningful financial insight to business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Perform month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and analysis of general ledger activity.
• Prepare financial reporting packages and supporting documentation for management review.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate variances, and identify trends or unusual activity.
• Maintain accurate and well-supported account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Support the preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
• Assist with audits, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor requests.
• Perform detailed financial and accounting analysis to support business decisions and improve reporting accuracy.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to obtain financial information and resolve accounting issues.
• Support special projects and other financial reporting initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within P&C insurance, public accounting, financial services, or another complex accounting environment.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial statement preparation.
• Experience with month-end and quarter-end close processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate variances and understand the underlying drivers.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting/financial systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• CPA or progress toward a CPA is preferred, particularly for candidates coming from public accounting.
