Job description

Job Summary:
Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Regional IT Support Specialist to provide hands-on infrastructure support for manufacturing operations across North America. The role involves maintaining reliable technology systems and serving as the primary IT contact for manufacturing sites, ensuring stable and secure operations in a 24/7 environment.
Responsibilities:
• Support and maintain plant IT infrastructure including Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, network connectivity, firewalls, and end-user computing systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, connectivity, and system performance issues affecting manufacturing operations.
• Perform preventative maintenance, system updates, and hardware support to maintain system reliability and reduce production downtime.
• Maintain cybersecurity standards through patching, endpoint protection, and compliance with enterprise security policies.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for manufacturing facilities within your region.
• Build strong working relationships with plant leadership, engineering teams, and operational staff.
• Conduct regular site visits to support infrastructure operations, perform maintenance, and assist with plant technology initiatives.
• Coordinate IT components of site projects such as workstation deployments, network installations, equipment replacements, and user setups.
• Support IT infrastructure used within manufacturing environments including process control networks, HMI workstations, thin client systems, and plant application servers.
• Assist with maintaining reliable connectivity between plant systems and enterprise infrastructure.
• Gain exposure to manufacturing technologies and industrial automation environments as part of supporting plant operations.
• Communicate clearly with plant teams and enterprise IT partners regarding system issues, maintenance activities, and project work.
• Collaborate with network, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and application teams to resolve incidents and implement improvements.
• Document system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and operational procedures to support long-term system reliability.
• Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule supporting manufacturing operations.
• Travel approximately 50 to 75 percent within the assigned region to support plant infrastructure, operational incidents, and project work.
• Travel is typically regional and planned around plant support needs.
• Periodic international travel may be required to support manufacturing facilities outside the United States.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 3 or more years of experience supporting IT infrastructure, systems administration, or enterprise IT environments.
• Hands-on experience with technologies such as Windows Server, virtualization platforms (VMware or similar), Active Directory, and enterprise networking.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience troubleshooting infrastructure, connectivity, and endpoint issues in business or production environments.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in industrial manufacturing environments and lift up to 35 pounds when supporting equipment installations.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport for potential international travel.
Preferred:
• Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or Microsoft infrastructure certifications.
• Experience supporting multi-site environments or field-based infrastructure roles.
• Experience supporting endpoint systems and user environments in production or business environments.
• Exposure to manufacturing or operational technology environments such as process control networks, HMI systems, or industrial automation platforms.
• Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell.
• Familiarity with IT service management platforms such as ServiceNow.
• Exposure to manufacturing technologies such as automated guided vehicles or other plant control systems.
