Senior Network Services Specialist

Location: St. Louis, Missouri 63114

Local candidates only. Enterprise network security experience/system knowledge is most important. Network technologies (OSI Model) (TCP/IP, SMTP, SNMP, HTTP, OSPF, etc.) Network services (DHCP, DNS, FTP, SSH, NAT, PAT, IPSec, QoS, VLANs, etc.) Network applications (VPN, firewall, etc.) Industry security certifications are helpful (Cisco or Palo Alto)

Interview process: HR will do a quick phone interview then give feedback to the hiring manager. The hiring manager would do a face to face interview if they move to the next step, then a decision

Purpose

• Maintain a highly technical inter-network of computing systems that require 24x7 operation, focusing on security and wireless technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop standardized troubleshooting methodologies that consistently result in timely resolution of system issues.
• Plan, develop, and lead systems-related projects.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and standards.
• Mentor and support junior members of staff.
• Plan hardware and software procurement, licensing, installation, configuration, and upgrades that require the acquisition of customer acceptance.
• Develop processes and procedures to ensure a stable computing environment.
• Client and evaluate new cost-effective technologies.
• Develop and maintain standardized data security protection procedures.
• Respond to critical Network Security incidents 24x7. Implement mitigation measures, coordinate and document incidents. Deploy, maintain and improve Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, traffic anomaly monitoring.
• Ability to understand the output of sniffers, tcpdump, equipment logs.

Requirements

Minimum job requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of network security experience required in a large enterprise architecture, engineering, and support environment.
• Two-year degree required: Technical training in IT related discipline or equivalent experience.

Preferred job requirements

• 4-5 years of enterprise network security experience preferred.
• Four-year degree with a major or minor in a computer science field
• Industry security certifications (Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer, Cisco Certified Network Professional-Security)
• Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (Client)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Knowledge of network technologies (OSI Model) (TCP/IP, SMTP, SNMP, HTTP, OSPF, etc.)
• Knowledge of network services (DHCP, DNS, FTP, SSH, NAT, PAT, IPSec, QoS, VLANs, etc.)
• Knowledge of network applications (VPN, firewall, etc.)
• Knowledge of network physical layer (routers, switches, T1, DS3, and Ethernet)
• Knowledge of enterprise system management (system configuration, monitoring, and reporting)
• Knowledge of IPS/IDS best practices
• Knowledge of redundant (High Availability) design methodologies
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Cisco security solutions
