Job description

Overview: 
FunkeFamous Food Truck is seeking an experienced Chef specializing in African cuisine to join our team. The successful candidate will lead menu execution, create high-quality authentic culinary offerings, supervise kitchen operations, and maintain strict food safety standards.

Responsibilities: 
  • Plan, prepare, and execute complete culinary dishes and specialty menus.
  • Specialize in the preparation and refined execution of authentic African dishes, including Jollof Rice and traditional West African cuisines.
  • Train, mentor, and guide kitchen staff on culinary techniques, food preparation, portion control, and presentation standards.
  • Supervise daily kitchen operations, kitchen staff, and line cooks.
  • Ensure exceptional food quality, consistency, and strict compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee inventory management, ordering, and record-keeping for food supplies, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Coordinate kitchen operations to optimize workflow and efficiency during peak service times.
  • Maintain rigorous sanitation and cleanliness standards throughout all kitchen work areas.
  • Lead menu development, recipe standardization, and cost-control initiatives.

Employment Requirements: 
  • Minimum secondary (high) school graduation certificate or formal culinary training.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of progressive experience as a Chef or Senior Cook specializing in African cuisine.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety regulations, culinary techniques, and sanitation practices.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high culinary standards.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
