Job description

Job Title: Senior Tax Accountant / CPA

Friedman & Associates, P.C. is seeking an experienced tax professional to join our CPA firm.

Both full-time and part-time arrangements are available.

We are looking for someone who can independently prepare individual, partnership, S corporation, trust, and corporate income tax returns, with the opportunity to take on tax return review responsibilities depending on experience.

This is a good fit for an experienced CPA or senior tax professional who enjoys technical tax work and wants to work in an environment where they can have meaningful involvement with engagements from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, corporations, trusts, and other entities
  • Review tax returns and workpapers, depending on experience
  • Research federal and state tax issues and assist with tax planning
  • Review client accounting information and identify issues requiring adjustment or additional analysis
  • Assist with IRS and state tax notices and correspondence
  • Work closely with firm leadership on complex or unusual tax matters

Qualifications

  • Several years of recent public accounting tax experience
  • CPA license strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of federal individual and business taxation
  • Experience preparing complex Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1041, and 1120
  • Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience reviewing tax returns is preferred but not required
  • Experience with ProSeries, UltraTax, or similar professional tax software is a plus

We are particularly interested in candidates who are comfortable going beyond data entry and basic return preparation and can understand the underlying tax issues, recognize when something does not look right, and research or resolve those issues appropriately.

Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

Interested candidates should submit a resume and brief description of their recent public accounting and tax experience.
