Job description

Primary Function: Verify, document, and maintain the incoming and outgoing shipment records for Foster and Foster Distribution, as well as perform the daily duties required in the warehouse. Special attention must be given to instructions posted on the purchase orders (allocations) and work travelers (shipping instructions).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Verifies weights, matches packing slip to Foster PO, and prepares all documentation pertaining to incoming raw material shipments (receiving reports, electronic receipt, receiving log, and product labeling).
  • Notes any discrepancies (shortages, damages, etc.) on the bill of lading before the driver leaves.
  • Initiates NCR for any damages, shortages, or late supplier shipments at incoming.
  • Pulls a sample of incoming raw material and performs the incoming inspection.
  • Prepares all documentation pertaining to packaging including labels.
  • Adjusts inventory electronically by consuming raw materials once finished goods runs are complete.
  • Provides a representative sample of finished goods being shipped to the lab for final Q.C.
  • Ensures finished goods are packaged in approved containers and that provided packaging specifications are followed.
  • Prepares all documentation pertaining to outgoing shipments (invoicing, bill of lading, shipping log, overseas/export documents, commercial invoice, etc.) and schedules pickups.
  • Updates the job board throughout the day (orders that note we are awaiting materials).
  • Brings incoming documents and completed work travelers to the front office for processing.
  • Reviews the manufacturing Bill of Materials (work traveler) to determine required materials for each sales order that is scheduled on the production board and stages materials in the batching room.
  • Puts away any unused materials returning from production.
  • Ensures that the inventory on hand is as accurate as possible by performing a physical inventory on a regular basis (monthly, quarterly, and bi-annually).
  • Maintains the inventory for all shipping supplies and reorders as necessary.
  • Maintains a clean work area by consistently removing debris from the floor and all surface areas.
  • Always maintain product identification.
  • Operates fork truck complying with OSHA regulations.
  • Performs a daily safety inspection of both fork trucks and maintains the inspection log.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complies with all safety regulations and applies good judgment in safely performing all tasks.
  • Complies with all related company ISO requirements.
  • Communicates with the Director of Operations all appropriate concerns related to working conditions, safety, injuries, and interpersonal conflicts.
  • Other duties may be requested and/or assigned by company management.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules, operational instructions, procedure manuals, and MSDS sheets.
  • Ability to write routine reports.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry instructions in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent or 1-3 years related experience or training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Language/Communication Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules, operational instructions, procedure manuals, and MSDS sheets.
  • Ability to write routine reports.
Computer Skills: Must be proficient in using system programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Other Required Ability:
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry instructions in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.
