Title: Project Field Superintendent – Permanent Sign Installation
Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Summary
The Project Field Superintendent – Permanent Sign Installation is responsible for leading and executing roadway sign installation projects from start to finish. This role ensures all work is performed safely, on schedule, within scope, and aligned with contract specifications and company standards. This is a hands-on field leadership role that oversees crews, coordinates resources, manages day-to-day jobsite operations, and drives project performance. The Superintendent serves as the primary field liaison between operations, project management, customers, and vendors while maintaining accountability for production, quality, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution amp; Field Leadership
  • Lead and supervise field crews on permanent sign installation projects.
  • Execute all work safely and in compliance with company safety policies and DOT regulations.
  • Ensure projects are completed according to plans, specifications, and contract scope.
  • Maintain a strong field presence—actively collaborating with crews when needed.
  • Coordinate daily jobsite activities, materials, labor, and equipment.
Planning, Scheduling amp; Production
  • Develop and manage project schedules to meet deadlines and production goals.
  • Allocate labor and equipment to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Track project progress and adjust plans to maintain schedule and budget.
Financial amp; Operational Oversight
  • Support job cost management, including tracking production against budget.
  • Identify and manage variances between estimated and actual costs.
  • Assist in forecasting revenue, cost, and project completion milestones.
  • Optimize project performance to support profitability and cash flow.
Safety amp; Compliance
  • Enforce safety standards and promote a strong safety culture across all job sites.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, permits, and company policies.
  • Conduct jobsite safety reviews and address risks proactively.
Communication amp; Customer Relations
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide regular project updates, reports, and status documentation.
  • Resolve field issues in real-time to keep projects moving forward.
  • Support customer satisfaction by delivering solutions and maintaining strong relationships.
Team Leadership amp; Development
  • Manage field personnel including scheduling, time tracking, and performance oversight.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and development of team members.
  • Mentor and develop crew members to improve skillsets and performance.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
Qualifications
Education amp; Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Field leadership experience in construction or roadway infrastructure preferred
  • Experience with permanent sign installation, traffic control, or DOT-related projects preferred.
  • Experience managing crews, schedules, and field operations.
Technical amp; Operational Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, and project specifications.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, production tracking, and variance analysis
  • Experience with resource planning (labor and equipment)
  • Knowledge of equipment used in roadway and sign installation operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and ability to learn ERP systems.

Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Experience working with state DOTs, municipalities, or public works projects.
  • Knowledge of permitting and regulatory requirements for roadway projects
  • Industry involvement through trade associations or relevant organizations
Work Environment
  • Primarily field-based role with significant time spent on active job sites.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and active roadway environments
  • Requires travel to project locations as needed.
