Job description
Nonna’s is looking for a strong, reliable Kitchen Lead to help run daily operations inside our fast-paced Italian-American sandwich and pizza shop.
This is a hands-on operational role for someone who thrives in the flow of service, understands kitchen organization, and takes pride in keeping a team moving efficiently.
We are not looking for a “clipboard manager.”
We are looking for someone who:
- works hard,
- communicates clearly,
- leads through consistency and effort,
- and can earn the respect of a long-standing kitchen team.
This position sits above line and prep cooks while still working directly alongside them every day.
What This Role Looks Like
This is a highly active kitchen position with a strong focus on:
- lunch service execution,
- prep production,
- catering support,
- and maintaining organization throughout the kitchen.
Responsibilities include:
- Running daily lunch service when chef leadership is not present
- Supporting catering setup and early morning production
- Managing prep flow and station readiness
- Making sandwiches, pizzas, and assisting prep as needed
- Helping maintain cleanliness, labeling, organization, and standards
- Communicating kitchen needs directly to chef leadership
- Supporting the team during busy service periods and shift transitions
This role may require:
- early mornings for catering production,
- staying late between AM and PM staffing transitions,
- and jumping into any operational need when necessary.
Who We’re Looking For
- Strong line cook experience in a fast-paced kitchen
- Comfortable leading by example without needing a management title
- Organized, dependable, and calm under pressure
- Physically quick and able to move efficiently through busy service
- Someone who solves problems instead of avoiding them
- Strong communication and team-building instincts
- Comfortable working with a predominantly Spanish-speaking kitchen team
Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred.

Requirements
- 3+ years of line cook or kitchen leadership experience
- Open availability including mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work clean, organized, and fast under pressure
- Strong understanding of prep systems and kitchen flow
