The First Church Early Learning Center, established in 1956, offers a nurturing environment where children can grow and develop their sense of self through play-based learning and structured curriculum. Our program is designed to be adaptable to each child's unique needs, and we incorporate the Connecticut State Department of Education's Preschool Assessment Framework, the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards, and the NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards into our daily planning. With both Half-Day and Full-Day programs available, we cater to the diverse needs of families. Since 1986, FCELC has been accredited by NAEYC, ensuring that families can trust in our high-quality education.

We seek a compassionate and skilled individual to join our team as a Lead Teacher. The ideal candidate will have effective classroom management skills, the ability to plan and implement a responsive curriculum, and strong communication skills to engage with parents. As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment, planning engaging lessons, and collaborating with colleagues. Hours will vary between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, and may be adjusted based on enrollment and school needs.

Our Lead Teacher will have a deep understanding of child development, experience working with children aged 3-5, and a passion for creating a family-like atmosphere. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in using the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards and have experience managing classroom staff.

• A bachelor's degree in early childhood or a related field or Associate degree in Early Childhood education.

We welcome applicants with experience in CPR/First Aid/Medication Administration, knowledge of the CT ELDS, NAEYC standards, and OEC regulations. While not required, having these qualifications will make you an ideal candidate for this position.

First Church Early Learning Center was established in 1956 and is NAEYC accredited. FCELC is comprised of 2 full day classrooms and a half day classroom, full day classrooms run 12 months a year and part day run during the school year only.

FCELC is looking for a positive, responsible, and adaptable individual to join our family. As a Lead Teacher at First Church Early Learning Center, this person would be expected to have effective classroom management, plan and implement an emergent curriculum, maintain Office of Early Childhood and NAEYC standards and communicate daily, as well as conferences 3 times per year and as needed, with parents.

Hours for this position may vary between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. The necessary hours for this position would be based on the enrollment in the classroom(s) as well as the needs of the school.

The ideal candidate would have 3-5 years previous experience as a Lead Teacher working with children aged 3-5 years of age in an NAEYC accredited/OEC licensed program. This person would be knowledgeable in using The Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS) and would be required to use them as an assessment/observation tool (3x per year) for the children at First Church. This candidate would also be responsible for creating and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans that focus on the individual developmental needs of the children we serve. Thie ideal candidate would also have experience managing classroom staff (teacher/assistant teacher)

Preference will be given to Early childhood professionals with:

A bachelor's degree in early childhood or a related field

or Associate degree in Early Childhood education

Fingerprinting and Background check required

CPR/First Aid/Medication Administration certificated preferred (training can be provided)
