Tax Accountant | Fully Remote (occasional in-person meetings in Marlboro, NJ)

Overview

We are a growing CPA firm seeking a detail-oriented and organized Tax Accountant to support a range of individual and business clients. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants meaningful responsibility, direct mentorship from the firm owner (a licensed CPA in NY and NJ), and the flexibility of remote work.

The ideal candidate has 1–4 years of tax preparation experience and can manage their own workflow under the supervision of the firm owner. This is a fully remote role, with occasional in-person meetings required for training and collaboration at our Marlboro office.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare individual and business tax returns for a variety of clients
• Prepare detailed client workpapers in Excel
• Organize and maintain digital client files as information is received
• Apply solid understanding of tax laws and forms
• Handle monthly accounting and bookkeeping for select clients
• Assist with attestation engagements (reviews and compilations) as needed

Required Skills & Experience

• 1–4 years of tax preparation experience with both individual and business returns
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft 365, and Adobe Acrobat
• Solid working knowledge of individual and business tax law and forms
• Experience reviewing financial statements and preparing client workpapers in Excel
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Experience with Intuit ProConnect or TaxDome is a plus
• Experience assisting with reviews or compilations is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive salary: $60,000 – $85,000 based on experience
• Fully remote work with occasional meetings at our Marlboro office
