POSITION SUMMARY

The kitchen staff serves an important role in the store’s operation. Friendliness and exceptional customer service are absolutely vital. They will prepare food orders accurately, efficiently, and safely.  They will greet & serve customers, take orders, and handle cleaning duties. Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members to operate a clean, organized, and highly functioning kitchen.  Additionally, the kitchen staff is expected to answer phones, plan and prepare high-volume batches of ingredients, clean the store, and perform other miscellaneous tasks as specified by the on-duty Shift-Leads and Managers.  

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepping food items accurately, efficiently, and safely.
  • Preparing food neatly, according to company standards, and promptly.
  • Exhibiting a friendly and helpful manner while greeting guests and preparing their orders.
  • Demonstrating a complete understanding of menu items and explaining them to guests accurately.
  • Cleaning and maintaining all areas of the restaurant to promote a clean image (tasks may include washing dishes, scrubbing floors, deep cleaning projects, and grease handling).
  • Checking products in all coolers and restocking items to ensure a sufficient supply throughout the shift.
  • Using the Point-of-Sale system/cash register to record the order and compute the amount of the bill, collecting payment from guests, and making change.
  • Organizing customer orders and placing food carefully in bags for customers and delivery drivers.
  • Understanding and adhering to proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards during food preparation, service, and clean up.
  • Restoring the restaurant to pristine condition for the following shift.
  • Understanding and adhering to all quality standards, formulas, and procedures as outlined in The Fat Shack® Employee Handbook.
  • Performing light paperwork duties as assigned.
  • PROVIDING EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

PREREQUISITES

General: Team members MUST maintain appearance and grooming standards as outlined in the company’s Dress Code Policy. Have an understanding of basic food safety and sanitation. Team members are naturally friendly, respectful, and pleasant. MUST treat coworkers and customers with care.  Team members are calm under pressure and not easily rattled while being reliable, accountable, and coachable.  A team player who doesn’t bring drama, negativity, or ego into the kitchen

Education: Some high school or equivalent.

Experience & Skills: 

·         Skills matter, but attitude matters more.

·         Ability to maintain focus and accuracy during high-volume late-night rushes.

·         No previous experience required; previous kitchen or food service experience is preferred.

·         Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions.

·         Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation

·         Ability to work quickly without cutting corners

Physical: Must be able to work any area of the restaurant when needed and to operate a computerized Point of Sale system/cash register. Position requires bending, lifting, and walking.  Ability to stand for long periods. Must have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally. Ability to commute to and from the restaurant location.

Availability: Open availability is a plus.  Available to work late nights and weekends.
