F&W Forestry Services

F&W Forestry has been managing woodland in the UK since 1957. We provide expert services in all aspects of forest and associated land management, including acquisition and brokerage of forest and woodland properties. Our team of professional forest managers works closely with forest and woodland owners to help them achieve their management objectives and the sustainability of their woodlands through sound forest management advice and best practice in silvicultural and operating procedures. Today, we are part of the F&W Forestry Services Group, which globally manages approximately 900,000 hectares (over 2 million acres) of forests and woodland throughout North America, South America, the UK, and France.

The Position

We are seeking to recruit an experienced forest manager to take responsibility for the management of an existing portfolio of clients’ forests and estate woodlands and to build up this portfolio through new woodland creation and expansion of services. You will have sound technical forestry knowledge and an understanding of commercial business practice, legislation, and relevant current issues.

You will be able to work on your own initiative but also as an integral part of a professional management team. With good communication and computer skills, including GIS, you will undertake forest management and woodland establishment on a range of properties that will include budgeting, operations planning and implementation, contract management, supervision, grant applications and the management of health and safety.

We’re looking for candidates who are highly motivated, confident, enthusiastic and reliable with the ability to identify solutions when problems arise. In addition to this, you will ideally have:

• Relevant academic qualifications and ideally 5+ years’ experience.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Good knowledge of current UK forestry practices and legislation.
• Proven track record in Forest Management, with the ability to take ownership of properties, workload, and to proactively manage forward job plan and clients’ expectations
• Full UK driving licence
