BMS / EPMS Controls Engineer
Location: Columbus, OH (central Ohio — hybrid / on-site)
Compensation: $110,000–$175,000 + bonus
Category: Design / Operations • Full-time
The nervous system of a data center is only as good as the engineer behind it. Controls talent is thin on the ground and central Ohio is one of the country's fastest-growing hubs.
The role
You'll program, integrate and commission the building management (BMS) and electrical power monitoring (EPMS) systems that run mission-critical data centers — turning thousands of points of data into safe, automated, efficient operation.
What you'll do
- Program, configure and integrate BMS/EPMS across data center electrical and mechanical systems
- Commission controls sequences and support integrated systems testing
- Troubleshoot DDC/PLC logic and network/communication issues
- Develop graphics, alarms and trending for operations teams
- Partner with MEP designers and commissioning agents through project delivery
What you'll bring
- 4+ years controls / building automation engineering, ideally mission-critical
- Hands-on with platforms such as Tridium Niagara 4, Distech, Automated Logic, Metasys or EcoStruxure
- Understanding of PLC programming and industrial networking
Nice to have
- Manufacturer certifications (Niagara 4, Schneider EcoStruxure, JCI Metasys)
- EPMS / SCADA experience
- NFPA 70E awareness
Why this role
Central Ohio has become a magnet for hyperscale and wholesale campuses (Aligned, EdgeConneX, AWS, Vantage, Google). Controls engineers who know data centers are rare — and this is a market building fast with less competition for talent than the coasts.
