IT/OT Specialist-Field(automation & control)

This is a remote role with travel, must be based in the New England, relocation assistance is not offered.

This is a hands-on technical and equipment installation role in the field.

The IT/OT Specialist - Field (automation & control) supports the Operational Technology (OT) team by installing, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining automation, control and IT systems across the company. This role ensures operational reliability and safety, directly supporting Relevate Power's mission of advancing clean and sustainable energy solutions. Your control systems, OT and IT expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of our company and contributing to our mission of clean energy transformation.

As a key member of theIT/OT team,you'llwork hands-on at the intersection of renewable energy, industrial control systems,IT systems,and modernoperationaltechnologies. Your contributions will help restore historic waterpower plants to their former glory-and beyond. With a passion for quality engineering and durable infrastructure, your work will extend the life of these essential assets for generations to come, strengthening communities along the river and securing a clean energy future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install,maintainand troubleshootplantPLCs andcontrol systems for power generation,and integrate themwith the ROC SCADA system.
  • Install,maintainandtroubleshootplantsandRemote Operations Center'sIT and OT systems, includingHMIs,networking, telecommunications, CCTVsystems,operatorcomputers, software, among others.
  • Perform routine system checks and maintenance to prevent unforeseen failures.
  • Respond to failuresandsystem malfunctions. Promptlydiagnose and resolve to minimize downtime.
  • Plan and execute PLC, IHM and station gateway programmodificationsincoordination with Operationsteam.
  • Plan and execute regular system upgrades, software updates, and hardware maintenance,accordancewith Relevate Power standards, including procurement of materials and coordination with Operations.
  • Maintainaccuraterecords, documentation, and reports related to SCADA system performance, incidents,upgrades,and maintenance activities.
  • Always follow and enforce company safety standards and Health, Safety, Security & Environmental (HSSE) policies.
  • Collaborate withcompliance,projectsand operations teams to ensure seamless plant operationsand evolution.
  • Provide training and support to staffregardingcontrol system operations.
  • Manage relationships with vendors andcontractors
  • Ensure thecontrolsystemsadhereto all relevant standards and regulations.
  • Foster teamwork, provide guidance, andfacilitateskill development within the team.
  • Manage the budget forIT and OT processes, including procurement, maintenance, and personnel expenses.
  • Provide regular status updates and reports to senior management.
  • Performadditionalduties andresponsibilities asassigned bythe manager.
  • This position willrequiretravelup to 4 days per week.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, military, or equivalent in a relevant field, and
  • Minimum of3years of professional experience inPLCs andcontrol systemsinstallationand maintenance, and
  • Provenhands-on experienceinPLCs,HMIandSCADA systemsconfiguration, preferably in the hydropower or energy industry.
  • Proven hands-on experience installing and configuringhardware andsoftware, security systems, network equipment, and related systems.
  • Proficiencyin running andterminatingdata and electrical cabling.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols with a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
  • Experiencewithelectrical systemson110-13800VACand 12-130VDC.
  • Ability to read and interpret electricalandcommunicationsschematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain a validDriver's license

DesirableQualifications:

  • Hands-on experiencewithIgnitionSCADAas well asGE,Emerson, Allen-BradleyandAutomation DirectPLCs.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecuritybestpractices and protocols(e.g., NERC CIP).
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience providing user training and support for software systems.
