Job description


Electronic Innovations Inc. is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Electronics Technician to join our Northern California team. This role supports the installation, service, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic security and low-voltage systems for commercial and residential clients.


The ideal candidate has hands-on technical experience, takes pride in quality workmanship, communicates professionally with customers and coworkers, and can work independently in the field.


Responsibilities


- Install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain low-voltage electronic systems.

- Work with access control, CCTV/video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom, alarm, and related security systems.

- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical drawings, system specifications, and installation instructions.

- Pull, route, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling, including Cat5e/Cat6 and security-system wiring.

- Program, configure, and verify equipment operation as assigned.

- Diagnose system issues and complete service calls efficiently and accurately.

- Perform equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and functional testing.

- Document work performed, materials used, test results, and service findings.

- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, project managers, vendors, and team members.

- Follow all company safety procedures, job-site rules, and applicable electrical and building-code requirements.

- Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicle, and assigned inventory in a clean and organized condition.

- Participate in occasional overtime, after-hours service, or travel as project and customer needs require.


Qualifications


- High school diploma or GED required; technical school, trade school, or electronics training preferred.

- Prior experience as an Electronics Technician, Low-Voltage Technician, Security Technician, Field Service Technician, or Installer is preferred.

- Working knowledge of low-voltage wiring, cable termination, testing equipment, and hand/power tools.

- Experience with electronic security systems, including access control, surveillance cameras, intrusion alarms, intercoms, or networking equipment, is strongly preferred.

- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, floor plans, and technical manuals.

- Basic computer and mobile-device skills for documentation, email, work orders, and system configuration.

- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a project team.

- Professional customer-service skills and clear verbal and written communication.

- Valid California driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

- Ability to pass background screening and meet customer or job-site access requirements, as applicable.


Physical Requirements


- Ability to work at customer sites, construction sites, offices, warehouses, and other field environments.

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

- Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts when authorized, and work safely at heights.

- Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, stand, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.

- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and job-site conditions.


Preferred Qualifications


- California low-voltage, alarm, or electrical industry experience.

- Experience with access-control platforms, IP cameras, network switches, or structured cabling.

- Familiarity with manufacturers such as Alarm.com, Avigilon, Axis, Bosch, Brivo, Verkada, Honeywell, Openpath, DSC, or similar systems.

- Certifications related to low-voltage systems, security systems, networking, OSHA safety, or lift operation.

- Experience working in commercial, industrial, educational, healthcare, or multi-tenant property environments.
