Job description

Scrum Project Manager

Location: Huntsville, AL, Onsite 5x a week

Employment Type: This is a 3-6+ months contract opportunity, with potential to convert to permanent

About the Opportunity

The team at Edge has partnered with a growing company in Huntsville, AL in their search for a Scrum Project Manager to join their team on a contract basis with potential to convert to permanent.

The Scrum Project Manager will support software engineering teams within a rapidly growing technology company developing connected autonomous and robotics systems.

This is a hands-on Agile delivery role focused on helping software teams improve planning, execution, communication, and delivery predictability. The ideal candidate understands Scrum and Agile practices but is also pragmatic and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where processes are still being established and refined.

You'll work closely with Software Engineering, Product, QA, DevOps, Architecture, and technical leadership to help teams stay organized, remove roadblocks, and continuously improve how they deliver software.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as Scrum Master for one or more software engineering teams.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, daily Scrum, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Product Owners to maintain healthy, prioritized backlogs.
  • Help engineering teams establish realistic sprint commitments and improve delivery predictability.
  • Identify, track, and remove impediments affecting engineering execution.
  • Coach teams and stakeholders on practical Scrum and Agile principles.
  • Monitor sprint progress, velocity, throughput, cycle time, and other meaningful Agile metrics.
  • Build and maintain JIRA dashboards and reporting.
  • Coordinate dependencies across Software Engineering, QA, DevOps, Systems, and other technical teams.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering and product stakeholders.
  • Help teams manage changing priorities while maintaining delivery discipline.
  • Support continuous improvement across software development processes.
  • Help establish scalable Agile practices as the organization grows.
  • Promote accountability while maintaining a collaborative and productive team environment.

Qualifications

  • 3–8+ years of experience in Scrum Master, Agile Delivery, Technical Project Management, or a related role.
  • Strong experience supporting software engineering teams.
  • Solid understanding of Scrum and Agile methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience facilitating Agile ceremonies.
  • Advanced proficiency with JIRA.
  • Understanding of modern software development practices and SDLC.
  • Experience identifying and removing technical and organizational blockers.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to influence teams and stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where processes are still evolving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and understand software engineering terminology and workflows.

CSM, PSM, or similar certification is a plus, but practical experience and the ability to work effectively with engineering teams are more important than certification alone.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first six months, you'll help:

  • Establish consistent and effective Scrum practices across software teams.
  • Improve sprint planning, execution, and delivery predictability.
  • Remove recurring impediments affecting engineering velocity.
  • Improve visibility into software development progress and dependencies.
  • Strengthen collaboration between Engineering, Product, QA, DevOps, and Architecture.
  • Establish useful JIRA dashboards and Agile metrics.
  • Build a sustainable culture of continuous improvement.
  • Become a trusted partner to software engineering and product leadership.
