Job description

Job: Echo Tech
Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Job Category: 3 Technicians
Position Summary
Under the supervision of a Cardiologist the Echo Tech performs echocardiographic procedures on patients, operates and maintains equipment, prepares necessary reports, and maintains all required records.
Essential Functions
  • Prepares patient for tests and gathers a history.
  • Assures equipment control settings for obtain optimal images.
  • Properly identifies exam with patient identification.
  • Follows protocol developed by the Cardiologist.
  • Provides care appropriate for all age groups.
  • Assesses patient data and prepares reports.
  • Maintains equipment and necessary levels of supplies.
  • Assures equipment is working properly and reports malfunctioning equipment.
  • Ensures exam is reviewed and reported by appropriate physician.
–Complies with and follows all patient experience initiatives.
  • Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
–Required on-call duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (other duties may include but are not limited to: halter monitors, event monitors, EKG, TEEs, stress testing, stress echos etc.).
–Must be able to work independently while also being a team player.
  • Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure.
  • Must be timely and operationally efficient when performing all assigned duties, while also prioritizing and maintaining the safety of the patient and yourself.
  • Work schedule, hours, and duties may be changed based on needs of the hospital.
–Must be accepting and flexible to accommodate rotated scheduling, hours, and duty changes.
  • Must be able to adapt to both TRMC inpatient and outpatient workflows in the hospital or at any of TRMC’s Clinics (may be routinely assigned to the hospital or clinic setting).
  • Adheres with IAC echocardiography standards including federal, state and local laws and regulations; including but not limited to laws relating to licensed scope of practice, facility operations and billing requirements.
  • Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare amp; Medicaid Services (CMS).

Work Experience
  • One year minimum of experience as an echo sonographer preferred.

Education
  • Required to be registered through ARDMS and/or CCI in echocardiography upon hire date.
  • BLS certification is required upon hire date and will be maintained throughout employment.
